How strict is the hand baggage weight? I had no idea how little you can take - 6kg!! I'm down to the bare minimum but still on 7kg.

Are you only taking hand luggage? How long are you going for?

Aberforthsgoat · 10/02/2019 17:14

They were strict when we went although our allowance was a lot more than that! Seems low is it checked baggage?!

TokenGinger · 10/02/2019 17:15

Very strict. I've been charged by them once, and had to take clothes out and put them on to avoid charges.

millimat · 10/02/2019 17:34

OK thanks. Yes 6kg hand baggage. Jet2 is 10!

They weighed our hand luggage when we handed over our checked luggage the time we flew with them. I don't know if they would do this at the gate if you were hand luggage only. You'd have to be prepared for it though.

If you're hand luggage only can you take a lighter bag? Some wheelie cases are 3 or 4 kilos empty.

When my bag was just over the limit, I put my purse, phone and kindle in my coat pockets, which brought the weight down. I stopped round the corner and put them back in my bag and they didn't weigh my hand luggage again so it was fine.

I think that's the answer - load up coat pockets! ( Coat that is over twelve other layers Grin)

I was very worried last year when I flew with them but they didn't weigh our hand luggage. Take an empty carrier bag just incase if u need to unload a few things or keep space in your handbag. As long as u are not more than a few kg over u should b fine.

Agree with taking a light case or hold-all. My trolley case was quite heavy so was quite anxious.
