Valencia - stay in centre or by beach?

Which area would you recommend staying in (with a toddler)? Seems that it's easy to move to between them so just wondering where will be nicer to base ourselves.

The first time I went to Valencia (weekend) I hated it.

Then Sod’s law I ended up living there for 9 months & fell in love with it. I stayed in each town, beach and inbetween for about 3 months each.

If you can both ride bikes I’d hire a couple, it’s a fabulous way to get around with a zillion wide, safe, cycle paths. (But take/buy GOOD locks, ones for the seats too!)

When are you going and how long for?

Do you think you’ll spend more time in either place?

Do you see yourselves self catering in the evenings or eating out?

Depends when you’re going too.

(Arghhh....god I miss my old life...)

Bikes sound great, thanks for the tip! We'd be self-catering and not going out in the evening (arghh also missing old life pre-dc!)

Going in March for 3 nights so not expecting to spend lots of time on the beach but the area looked interesting and having open space for a toddler to roam safely seems handy

Area between the beach and town is not the nicest, so be aware that it’s not the most pleasant of walks. Excellent tram and bus service though and yes, good cycle lanes.

I’ve both worked and holidayed in Valencia and it’s far from my favourite. Others rave about it though, so I guess it just wasn’t the best fit for us.

Ps nice, clean and safe beach promenade though, with some decent restaurants

Good to know thanks. I'm thinking maybe better to stay in the centre then.
