Hello, I went to these places when I was eleven (looong time ago) and remember loving it so thinking of sorting a few days (3 nights?) for me, DH and 7yo DD in Feb half term.

Any suggestions for which one to go to (or both?) and what to do when there with a 7yo?

Thanks!!

Haven’t been to Vienna for years but went to Salzburg recently....on overnight was enough. We stopped there on a train journey to break it up. Fab for a da6 an£ an evening. But to stay any longe4 I’d have wanted to get into the mountains. We found a great bierkellar with a view, wandered around and went into the museum. Pondered choc shops. And stayed in the motel one on the river (v nice).

Think Vienna has more to offer unless you love sound of music and Mozart...

If you're a Sound of Music fan, you'll need more than one day in Salzburg. There's a lot to see!

I am but not sure DH would be happy with days full of it!

I loved salzburg, lots to see in area as well. I would have happily spent four nights there. In winter maybe 2 our 3.
.in summer warmer months it was lovely though. They had so many strange but charming street fountains. My dc adored playing with them eg one pedestrian street had teeny stream from the top to bottom and plastic balls. Dc spent hours playing there whilst we sat and ate
