Thailand April about 10 days

My husband can home before Christmas and announced we are going to Thailand for Easter. DC are enthusiastic water sports/divers and are all over it.

I need advice on which is the best area/islands in April and beach hotels please. The DC are picky eaters (think meat fish and potato ), whilst we will eat anything.

Anyone got a great recommendation?

Wherever you go will be very hot in April. I think the East coast beaches will be slightly cooler and better for diving.
Koh Samui?

We've been to Koh Samui ( Anantara Bophut ) which is right next to fisherman's village and is right on the beach at the N of the island
Or Koh Phangan which is quieter and a fabulous hotel at Anantara rasananda in the NE of island where the beach is incredible and very safe shallow bay ....most ( if not all) the rooms have plunge pools as well as a lovely infinity pool for all guests and there are plenty of places to eat in the village
There's a very good dive centre on the beach by Anantara rasananda which does regular boat trips to good dive sites at Koh Tao
Thoroughly recommend a boat / snorkelling trip to Ang Thong marine park 90min boat trip from Koh Samui where there's brilliant snorkelling

We're off to Thailand on 1st April for 3 weeks... so excited as we've never been anywhere like this before. Doing loads of research but only booked first 4 nights accommodation so far - 2 in Bangkok to recover from journey and then 2 in Hau Hin to visit Phraya Nakhon Cave and Temple.
