Hello everyone or anyone kind enough to take the time to read this Grin

Basically, I'm a Irish citizen, I moved to the uk 4years ago. I had my little girl in june and i have always wanted her to have an Irish passport.

Unfortunately i stupidly booked a family holiday in august and when she was born i enquired about getting her an Irish passport but due to the high demand as we're facing brexit they told me i was looking at 20+weeks wait for it which i couldn't do so i applied for a uk passport.

Now that were back i want to switch her over to an Irish passport, does anyone know if this is possible? Can she have both? Or can i apply for the irish and once its arrived cancel the uk passport? I have tried to contact the embassy but they weren't any help!

Thank you Smile

Have a look here: www.citizensinformation.ie/en/moving_country/irish_citizenship/irish_citizenship_through_birth_or_descent.html

Pretty sure she can hold both.

She can have both passports. No need to cancel one to have the other.

Keep UK one and get an Irish one
