Krakow Christmas Markets

I'm going to krakow in 2 weeks, I've not been before but I'm quite nervous about how cold it's going to be and what clothes to pack! Could anyone help? Is it likely to be snowing?

I won't be able to see the Salt Mines as I have a fear of elevators.. so aside from the christmas market could I have some tips on other things to do? (I'm only going to be there for two days)

Thanks!

It’s a lovely place to just explore on foot with very photogenic old town, Jewish quarter and castle. It could ne similar weather to here or it could turn very cold. We were there one February in -10c and ended up in a lot of Cafés to warm up, not that that was a bad thing. So be wiser than us and take thermals, hat, gloves etc :)

elevators? When we went down the saltmines (quite a few years ago admittedly) we walked down spiral staircase and were told that only a bride getting married in the salt mines could use it..... perhaps things have changed.... but perhaps you could use the stairs?

forgot to say... you can combine Auschwitz on the same day trip.
agree with above poster... it's very walkable... I like the wawel (castle, museum, cathedral etc), hot chocolate in the main square waiting for the trumpeter on the hour then into st Mary's basillica (about 10 zloty)... I got some lovely Christmas baubles in the cloth house.
clothes wise...could be a dry cold do take layers.
enjoy... it's fab!

Wear footwear with thick soles and insulated soles.

You walk down c800 steps to get to the mines with an elevator back to the surface (I was there in September)

The salt mines have miner's lifts back to the surface and also a very windy spiral staircase.
