DH has finally been able to confirm two weeks off from Sat 21st July. We'd love to go to France - walking distance to the beach, good weather, little village, market etc. Very happy with a caravan or small gite (there are four of us including DS 5 and DD 4) but as ever, money is a big factor ie we don't have a huge budget. Really don't want a big holiday park or anywhere with entertainment etc on tap but just want something simple, easy and relaxing. I'm worried though that we've left it too late so your help is appreciated.

We camped at the village campsite in Maubourget (Haute Pyrenees and a hour-2hour drive to the coast for swimming) but close to lakes for swimming. They have a small chalet at the site.

Was very cheap, very simple but clean and friendly.

Try an availability search on Chez Nous - there seems to be places available though you have picked the two most busy weeks for English holiday makers going abroad.

just did a quick look at 2 campsites I'm familiar with which meet your criteria - seems REALLY cheap but that's booking direct!

Week 1 Camping village la plage, le Guilvenic, Briattny 1 week in a mobile home for E770
then move slightly round coast to:
Campoing les deux fontaines, Raguenes
1 week ina mobile for E764

Not bad!! i know it's changing campsites but you'd get to do both!!! both sites are within walking distance of a beach (Le Guilvenic it's actually on the beach) both have pools, bar resataurnt etc, family friendly. check out their websites. play around with reservations - I didn't have time but you may be able to get 14 days at 1.

can recommend Le Gulvenic as stayed there and hopefully Raguenes will be even better as going there in Aug (and we're paying £1370 for 2 weeks - eek!! but Tesco's are paying so hey!)

good luck!

ferry crossings are Dover - calais, about 7 hour driv from calais.
