Nice hotels in Bath or nearby?

I'm looking for a nice hotel somewhere like Bath or somewhere else which is an easy journey from the Reading area. We have 1 ds-free night away in Oct. for our 10th wedding anniversary so I'd like it to be somewhere quite special, preferably with a good restaurant so we can eat in if we want to. Somewhere with interesting shops and other attractions nearby would be nice, as I'll be 33 weeks pg by then so won't want to do anything too strenuous!

TIA!

What about the Royal Crescent Hotel ? I've never been there, but it looks lovely...

Hi Gingernut, I used to work for Bath Tourism so I hope I can help a bit.
Firstly, a word of warning, if you're looking for a Saturday night only booking - GOOD LUCK! Bath hoteliers are greedy and a lot (most) will not except a one night only booking, you'll have to look at the top hotels to get a one night only stay. We recently stayed at The Francis Hotel which is on Queens Square. It was nice enough but I would've expected better service from one of the top hotels. We had a 4-poster room which cost us £180.
The best hotels imo are The Priory, The Royal Crescent and the Bath Spa. But you will be looking at spending at least £200+ for one night.
There are some nice villages surrounding Bath, Bradford-on-Avon & Lacock (nice little restaurant here called The Sign of The Angel) So you might want to look around there, also they might be a bit more flexible if it's a Saturday night only.
Oh, just remembered there is also a place called Lucknam Park (I think thats how it's spelt) Very posh - Brad Pitt stayed there, my friend changed his bed sheets!!!
I hope this has given you something to go on. Have a nice break away, Bath is beautiful.
