When you visited Amsterdam did you just buy the tickets on the official website to the attractions? Or did you find any genuine good deals/discounts beforehand?

Most attractions are €20 just wondering are there any discounts??

And is Amsterdam really that expensive to eat out? Can you recommend some places? Chinese/Japanese/Dutch/ etc

How much spending money for 4 days/nights to be comfortable? Would €600/700 be enough? Don't wanna be worrying!

Hi there. I'm an Amsterdam blogger and you can find loads of info, inspo and suggestions on the blog www.amsterdamwonderland.com

You can buy an Iamsterdam city card in advance that will give you entry to museums, free travel on trams and a canal boat ride. The more you use it the better value it is. It's not good value for kids who get free entry anyway to many places.

Anne Frank needs to be booked exactly 60 days out, or you want to go to the Van Gogh museum it also needs booking in advance.

Browse the blog for affordable eats and let me know if there's anything else I can help with

For how many people? Are you taking children?

Bimgy85 · 24/09/2018 08:28

The Albert Cuyp market always has a large array of good street food at a decent price.
Omelegg for omelettes, Pannenkoekenhuis for pancakes, and Singel 404 for sandwiches. Thrill Grill is also reasonable; you get a generous and delicious burger with fries and another side dish for £13.
Gassan Diamond Factory does free hour-long tours. Book on their website and choose your language.

Also following for advice! I’m going next month and aside from having booked the AF museum we are none the wiser about what else we want to do...

Bumping for more recommendations. I’ve booked a surprise long weekend for DH’s birthday at the beginning of November. We’re staying on the canal ring and like a mix of mid/high end. 2 adults and an older teen.

How long do I need to set aside for the AF museum?

GreenHatHacker · 06/10/2018 11:46

One of the best things we did in Amsterdam (a Mumsnet recommendation!) was a canal trip with "Those Dam Boat Guys" www.thosedamboatguys.com/#new-page Went in October, so needed to wear lots of layers, but being in a small open boat rather than a big tourist boat meant we saw so much more and the local guide was great. We went to late night opening on Friday at Van Gogh museum without needing to prebook (after a cocktail at House of Bols just nearby!). Lovely city just for wandering around.

They look fab greenhat. Thanks for the link. I was looking for a boat cruise but they all looked a bit naff.

For the classiest (and in my opinion the best by a mile) boat trip in town check out PureBoats

@dondraperoldfashioned as you may have seen above I'm an Amsterdam blogger and have loads of info you might be interested in on the blog www.amsterdamwonderland.com Let me know if I can help with anything xx

Done Iamsterdam ticket didn’t think much of it. You can get transport passes on the trams for a lot less. Does not include admission to the more tourist places. Body works Ann franks etc.

Red hop on hop off bus is good lots of routes and includes hop on hop off cancel boat too.

Best bet just plod up to a coffee shop get wasted and watch the world go by

Pussy boat is good if you like cats.
