Turkey next week - awful reviews!

We are heading to Lara Beach next week for a weeks All Inclusive break.

I am on a FB group for the hotel and noticed some post about lots of people being ill, so I decided to have a look at the reviews on Trip Advisor and some over the past few weeks are awful with so many saying they have been really ill, talking about cold food, flies on the food, poor hygiene etc.

Apparently the TC rep is aware of the issues, should I panic because there are still one or two good reviews in there!

Sorry the link didn't work in my first post for some reason:

Do you have insurance that would allow you to cancel or change hotels?
Ring your insurance provider and ask now!

Hmm it doesn’t sound great does it BUT I had the same concerns about a holiday we went on to Cape Verde toa 5* AI. There were so so many people complaining on trip advisor about d&v at the resort and the total cynic in me believes these reviews are often made up to support claims of sickness to get money back after a trip. Just abthinj to consider. Also- we were not ill on our trip!

We've stayed at Sherwood Breeze twice in the last 3 years, and it was amazing. However, last year we stayed next door at Royal Wings, after previously loving our time there previously, and it had gone RAPIDLY downhill, so can well believe Sherwood may have suffered the same fate! Having said that, I wouldn't believe everything you read on trip advisor! The best thing to do is stick with the AI restaurant for your meals and steer clear of the a la Carter restaurants. That's where the tales of food poisoning come from in my experience.

Collywobbles1984 · 11/09/2018 16:00

Although having just read the most recent reviews, it's the AI restaurant with the problem, so ignore me! If I was in your position, having just read the reviews, I'd be doing everything I could to switch hotels!

If you switch the English language option off then you find that the vast majority of reviews in the last few days are 5* with only 2 or 3 lower reviews

If I were you I would just take standard holiday precautions. No chicken. No fruit that can't be peeled. And be cautious with ice.

Have a lovely holiday.

I have just come back from Portugal, and tbh, was scared stiff at what I was going to find, as most Trip Adviser reviews were appalling.

Best holiday and hotel ever.

People get sick on holiday generally because they are stupid with food- too much to drink, ice in the drinks, ice creams, unwashed fruit etc. Too much sun and too much booze and they blame it on the hotel.

Have a great time!

PS I do agree as well, that Brits are a bit bishbosh keyboard warrior on things like Trip Adviser. Tou can see the "I'm going to email for some refund" flashing before their eyes a lot of the time.
