We have signed up to do our first home exchange next week, only a 5 day

Pressed the send button by accident! Only a 5 day one in the same country. We are dying to try a long haul one next summer maybe to Australia. Anyone done this? I’d love to hear your stories if so!

Remember UK Summer is Aus Winter if you are planning ahead. If you want to come in school holidays maybe think of heading North? We had family visit last Winter (Sydney) and despite plenty of warning I don't think they believed it really would be cold. The kids kept saying they thought they would be able to swim in the pool - only if they wanted hypothermia!

We were probably one of the first to do home exchange in 1992 and 1993 long before they had websites, it was back when houses were in a book with only a few with some black and white pictures.
We did a UK one to Hampshire then we went to Atlanta USA, it was amazing I was only 12 at the time but remember thinking the house was like something out of Dallas it was huge and had a laundry shoot which I found lots of fun. In fact I'm friends on fb with the lady we exchanged with over 20 years ago!
I'd recommend it to anyone and keep meaning to sign myself up to one of the home exchange sites but never seem to get round to it.
