My husband and I, together with our 3 little girls, are planning to move to York next year so I can pursue a Masters degree at the University of York. How easy/difficult is it to get a job in York for someone with an undergraduate degree in Computer Science?

What kind of job? Related to your degree or service sector style work? What are your salary expectations? Do you have the right to work in the U.K.?

I will be on Tier4 (Pilot) student visa and sponsoring my husband. He would be looking for a job in the softwsare development/engineering/IT management sectors. I will be completing a 13-months masters programme.

I doubt it will be easy. The more specific he is the harder it will be to find work. York has lots of service sector jobs for tourists and some other big employers like the university but not a lot of high tec companies. He may need to be prepared to travel to leeds or somewhere else , or down grade his work expectations or distance / home work for someone not based in york.

Thanks Twickerhun! I'll look for other opportunities I guess.

He would probably find work in Leeds which isn’t too far but the commute can be a pain
There is a science park near the Uni so that night give him opportunities

Thanks for the tip Hoppinggreen! I will look for opportunities there.. Leeds is too far if he wants to help me with the kids Hmm
