Using Eurotunnel flexipass as time we want is booked up?

I have managed to leave the tunnel booking too late and it is full for the time that we want to leave (all day that day). A friend has suggested that we buy a flexipass ticket for the day before and use that - has anyone else done this? Is the ticket really that flexible?

Sounds like a good idea if it works like that. What do the t & c's say? Check them carefully.

I’m no expert here as have only done the Chunnel a couple of times. But my understanding was that Flexiplus allows you take take any crossing on your booked day and it’s possible to change the date of travel free of charge but that this needs to be done in advance. So you couldn’t rock up with a Flexiplus ticket booked for a different date and expect to travel. So your best bet would be to book the Flexiplus for the date you actually want to travel, not the day before as suggested by your friend.

Having said that, it’s been about 2 years since I’ve done it but the standard tickets always used to be fairly flexible and if you book a later time but show up earlier you’d usually get an earlier departure if there’s space. In fact I’ve never actually travelled on my booked crossing as my timing sucks and I’m always early or late! But don’t quote me on that as it’s been a while so they very well could have changed things.

I suppose you could risk it but if the crossings are full then you'll just have to keep waiting until you get a slot? Saying that we usually turn up a bit earlier & have always been put on the next crossing, even during peak periods.

Actually sorry just realised you said your preferred day is completely full... in that case I see your frirnd’s logic, you might be able to buy a Flexiplus for another date, like the day before and then attempt to change it before you go. But unsure if you would be actually able to make the change if that date is showing as full and I might be wrong but I don’t think you can show up with a Flexiplus booked for a different date and travel. I would definitely reccomend calling Euro Tunnel if you can and ask.
