I’ve narrowed it down to Jamaica or DR (other options that fit the bill are too pricey)

Under 10 flying time
And a pool with slides (needn’t be a water park, just a few slides)

Any recommendations please!

We aren’t foodies and we are not looking for culture. Just 7 nights chilling

we've been here twice with kids,they have blow up bouncy slides twice a week around the pool. Nice kids club too.

Have a look at jewel runaway bay in Jamaica we went last year and had a fantastic time

Lovely food and great pools and water park.

I'd second Jewel Runaway Bay. Lovely smaller hotel, top notch service with excellent manager in Scott (check out Trip Advisor reviews, some of his responses are hilarious!). Small but good waterpark, nice safe beach with snorkelling. Lots to do close to, Dunns Waterfall, Mystic Mountain bobsleigh , rafting, Green Grotto caves, ziplining etc. It's miles from "dangerous" areas Kingston, Montego Bay. We all loved it and loved Jamaica, really friendly people. We went out and about all the time and felt very safe.
DR has a reputation for holiday sickness and has more poverty. Jamaica also has clean water which makes a big difference to food hygiene.
We've done other islands and Mexico but JRB in Jamaica remains a favourite.

Showed children vid of the pool and slides yesterday and they were so excited. Made the tens of hours of research worth it!
