UK Passport - Online Renewal Application

Has anyone successfully done this recently please? We managed to get a digital photo through the initial approval process but wonder if it could yet be rejected. How quickly after sending old pp did the new one arrive?

Yes it took 7 days to be delivered after sending the application. Amazingly the photo was accepted, I was fully expecting it to be rejected.

This was last week, so mustn't be too busy yet

Done a few weeks ago. It took about 10 days for the passport to be delivered from applying for renewal.

It will reject a photo when you try and upload it. The online renewal doesn’t like dh’s Face and rejected it every time but the same photo was accepted posted

Once my photo had gone thru online i received the new passport within a week.

Sounds promising. Posting off old one tomorrow so will update in due course.

got mine back today and applied exactly a week ago . got lots of updates etc by text along the way and sent by old one back at the same time as applying for the new one . great service i thought and much less faff than the non on line version.

No time at all - 10 days? They're astonishingly efficient at the moment.

Can someone please tell me if you have to get the photo authorised when you do this? Even for a 16 year old? Also is it best to take the photo with the flash on even in daylight? It looked fine on my phone but was too shadowy when I downloaded it. Thanks.

Just to update I have just received the new passport. Online application and photo uploaded on Wed last week, posted old passport on Thursday, processed on Tues/Wed , printed yesterday and arrived today. So 10 days total.

The picture was taken outside, natural day light not full sun , slight shadow on one side of face but was accepted to upload on second attempt - first deemed too shadowy and outline of head not distinct enough so tucked hair behind ears for second. No further validation required after uploading.
