I'm planning a 5 day break mid June and would like some suggestions please.

I want a decent hotel (adults only would be great but not imperative), close to the sea and a short taxi ride from the airport. I'm currently looking at Quarteria as thats not too far from Faro but I'm open to suggestions as I haven't visited Portugal for 20 years.

I've been to Tenerife 3 times this year so fancy somewhere else. I was hoping to try Madeira but the flights from my nearest airport are Mondays only and I need to travel Sunday - Friday. Similar issues with Lisbon and Porto.

I really wouldn't recommend quarteira as it's not nice, all I remember is lots of graffiti along the concrete seafront & it's run down.

Villamoura is nearby & much more pleasant & seems safer if you want to go to Portugal alone.

Go to Tavira.

I didn't like dark, was empty and windy with not much to see

I didn't like faro*

I was in Vilamoura last weekend - it's very much an adults results (strong golf focus and nothing really for families) and plenty of bars to sit people watching. We stayed at Pinhal da Marina apartments, a pleasant 10minute walk to the town and marina, and 4€ taxi ride. About 20 minutes from Faro airport.

Lagos is lovely. Loads of boat trips offering paddle boarding, snorkelling, kayaking. Nice cafes around the marina, good restaurants, market, beaches and ice cream parlours open late into the night. Love Lagos!

Thank you for the input. I'll rethink location. I'm glad I asked.
