Calais to Switzerland overnight stop

We’re (2 adults and 2 kids) driving from Calais to Switzerland but want to break up the journey. Does anyone have any suggestions about where to stay for one night en route? Not fussed about anything fancy, a budget hotel or B&B would be fine but would really appreciate some ideas for towns/villages.

We've used this B&B for some stopovers with small kids a couple of times. www.stopoverconnections.com/bed-and-breakfast-france/champagne/family-friendly-troyes-527/

Maybe around besancon? Or is that too far?

How about Luxembourg?
Lots to see in the compact city, castles galore and vineyards.

Not a specific location recommendations but have a look at Accor Hotes. they have a massive chain across europe.

We normally stop in Reims.

Where in Switzerland? Maybe Strasbourg or south east of Paris.

Where about a in Switzerland are you going? We have stopped at Strasbourg and Reims before but now we drive after-school to Folkstone, stay there overnight and get on the 6.20am Eurotunnel. Then just do the long drive to Switzerland in a day. Can halfway across France by breakfast!

Depends on what time you are getting the ferry or Eurotunnel. We do this journey every Summer, we’ve stayed in Belgium or Luxembourg (Novotel is great for family rooms and you can park on the street if you book Kirchberg option) if we are leaving at lunchtime. If you are leaving earlier in the day you could stop in Strasbourg.

Look at the B&B chain. www.hotel-bb.com/en/home.htm They are very reasonable with ensuites, no frills, excellent breakfast including bacon and eggs, etc. No evening meals, but always close to restaurants. We usually stay in the one in Arras because we have to drive a long way in the UK first, otherwise Reims or Troyes.
