Sandy beaches in Cyprus for toddlers?

I'm looking to book a villa holiday in Cyprus and want to stay near or on a sandy beach. I have a young toddler so want to avoid pebble beaches that she will struggle more to walk on. Can anyone recommend anywhere please?

Hi @Dalesgirl16. When are you wanting to go? There are a couple of really nice sandy beaches near Limassol...Amathus for example. Nisi Beach in Ayia Napa is lovely but will be very busy in the summer holidays so try to avoid it.

With a toddler I would avoid the hot months of July and August...especially as I'm guessing you can avoid the summer holidays?

With that assumption in mind (correct me if I am wrong), I would go in early May.

I hope you don't mind some suggestions with prices...not selling just trying to guage your expectations.

What's your budget? ...there's a great villa right on the beach which, with flights for 3 of you, would be about £2,500 9-16 May. OR...

Another lovely one about 2 mins from the beach which I have with flights for about £1,400 for the 3 of you for the same dates. That one has loads of childrens equipment...so you don't have to carry everything.

Let me know if you want to know any more. Sarah x www.facebook.com/bestfamilyholidays/

Fig Tree Bay is a sandy beach near or in Protaras. We went in October two years ago and it was lovely.

Protaras is your best choice for a family holiday with a toddler. The only problem is that it is a fairly long drive from the airport at Larnaca (about an hour-ish).

It really depends what kind of place you want: for example, theres a cto beach in Oroklini just outside Larnaca, but the area isn't a proper tourist resort really.

Ayia Napa in October will be very quiet, and Nissi Beach will be pretty empty.

To be honest, I'd go to the east side of the island, rather than the west, but there will be more villa availability on the west side (Paphos etc).

I live in East Cyprus and have two toddlers.

Nissi beach in Ayia Napa is the prettiest nearest to us but it's very touristy. Ayia Thekla is lovely.

Oroklini area has some gorgeous villas. The beaches are not as pretty but you can walk there from a lot of the vilkas.

We go to the beach on the sovereign base area a lot because it's so safe less crowded and great facilities. We also go to Varosha over the border for the same reason.

You might find it better to get a villa in one of the villages and hire a car.

Nissi beach is beautiful!! We have been several times 😃

Thank you. I know Cyprus well but usually stay in Larnaca and visit Protaras, paralimni etc for the day. Never stayed there or Paphos and never had a villa holiday before.

Look at Owners Direct or Holiday Lettings for options in the villages.

Some people even advertise in the local fb groups.

There is a Larnaca one, an Ayia Nic and Dhekalia one and one that covers the villages (Sotira, Frenaros, Xylofagou, Liopetri and Avgorou)

There's a local info magazine that also has an fb page It's called Daxi and covers south of Larnaca right up to Protaras.

If you decide on the West side of the island, we had a great break there with our two. There's an apartment complex in Coral Bay with villas attached. A short walk to the beach and the owners also own a little luna park over the road and there's an excellent supermarket really close. I think its called the Neptune.

I also like Yurts in Cyprus and Zenning in Latchi for self catering on that side.
