Should we spend any time in Bordeaux?

I'm currently planning our Summer holiday, probably staying in a house in Dordogne near Thenon. Because we're in the North we'll fly to Bordeaux rather than drive down. I was wondering if it would be worth having a couple of nights in Bordeaux before heading to our gite? I've never been and fancied a bit of city before heading to the countryside. We've got 10 days so would still have a week in Dordogne. DH isn't convinced and would prefer to just go straight there. Any advice on whether it's worth a stop off with 2 teens? Thanks.

It’s worth a day but probably not more than that. We had a rainy day there - enough to do & see for a day but I didn’t have my socks blown off! It’s an attractive rather than ‘wow’ town

It's a lovely city but 1 night and a day mooching could be enough, it can get hot too.

Thank you both for replying, that sort of fitted with what I'd read in Lonely Planet. Looks like DH might win this one!
