Me and Dh and 2 dd’s 12 and 10. We will have 3 full days there Tuesday - Thursday. Staying on Pest side near the chain bridge. Looking for things to do and places/food to eat. Also tips on travelling around and anything else I might need to know. Thanks!

Hi there is a very good 'things to do in Budapest ' thread kicking around already , I would try searching for it

sunglasses · 04/04/2018 14:43

Thanks. I will search for it. If anyone would like to add any info from recent trips there etc please do as I know some things change eg restaurants or opening times etc for some attractions.

The open air baths are meant to be amazing at this time of year. Steam rising into the cold air !

Yes definitely going to check out the baths. Hope the air is not too cold!

Set up an antifascist demo. It needs it.

Wine tasting at the Faust wine cellar inside the Hilton was good.

Cafe Gerbeaud is a nice place to eat.

Use Hop on Hop off bus to get around its perfect to see the best of Budapest ...we loved www.newyorkcafe.hu/menu.html Its a real treat! We stayed up near the Oktogon and there were loads of restaurants open late at night....

Take a boat trip - Margaret Island is nice - not sure whether they still have the funky vehicles to ride around in.

We didn't go to Aquaworld but I have been to several Eastern European water parks and they are normally very very good for adults and children.

I was going to say go to the baths. For me, it was the highlight in Budapest. We went to the one in the hotel just north of the river for think. Amazing ornate baths. Just fabulous

KönyvBár was good food in book store type setting. For evening meal.

We liked using the trams and underground.

Boat trip was good.

Gellert spa was brilliant.
Then followed by Sunday brunch at the Hemingway.
