Hi, can anybody recommend a resort/hotel abroad that has activities suitable for older children? There is so much choice my brain is now addled!

We will be going for a week around the 21st of July.

I take mine (on my own) to Salou. Not so much for what the hotel offers, but for the area. Within a ten min walk of the hotel we have a beach with a beautiful prom, an aqua park and the Port Aventura theme park.

I was just going to suggest going to Salou

Dogsrbarking · 31/03/2018 11:50

Also with Salou you could go to Barcelona for the day

If you like Eurocamp, Bella Italia at Lake Garda is great for those ages plus absolutely tonnes to do in local area.

Thank you for replies Smile

I've been to Salou and took the train the Barcelona, really enjoyable holiday.

Like the idea of Eurocamp as well, I will have a look.....

We mainly took ours to the Greek Islands, they were quite happy sightseeing, museums and beach/pool days. They still get nostalgic about Greek tavernas.

Hi goose Smile

Were there any specific resorts or hotels in Greece that stood out?

My favourite places in Greece with my DC have been Princess Hotel in Skiathos (The Green Park Apartments are a good, cheaper alternative & same location), Parga, Afitos in Halkidiki, Aghia Anna & Elia Beach in Mykonos.

TrackerBar · 02/04/2018 16:34

Thank you Edina, I will have a look at those Smile

We like Algarve Falésia Mar fab views, lovely beach below, various low key mixed age activities going on for DC (more suited to kids this age than younger as for some activities adults can join in too) throughout the day (water polo, yoga, water aerobics, daily challenge, football, archery etc etc) hotel rooms really big (separate bedroom for adults) and big L shaped bed / sofas big enough for kids that age, plenty of potential holiday friends around, lovely big breakfast (plenty of choice for all tastes). Nice quiet restaurants for family and adults at night time.

TrackerBar · 03/04/2018 17:13

That's beautiful Hellsbells, stunning views! The kids would definitely not be bored either.

It was so good @TrackerBar we have booked to go again this year at the end of August. We booked with Jet2 last year but this year booked our own flights with Jet2, transfer with Yellow Fish transfers (have used them before many times) and booked the hotel direct with 3HB hotels. The whole place is being refurbished to a very high standard. Our room needed a refurb but we were hardly in it. I think they were planning to refurb all the rooms over the winter season.

As long as there is sunshine and a pool we'll be happy. This weather is the worst!

Have a look at First Choice Splashworld holidays. They have water parks attached to, or within, the hotel grounds. A lot of the water slides are aimed at older children (usually 10yrs+) so you get guests with older children staying there rather than younger families, which is great for making friends with kids their own age.
There are resorts all over the world. We went to Menorca (Hotel Marina Park) a couple of years ago when DS was 11 and he had the best time ever. The water park was within the hotel grounds and brand new with some really fab slides. It’s all inclusive so he could help himself to drinks/ice cream/burgers etc whenever he fancied. There were also sports facilities, football, tennis etc.
We are off to another Splashworld resort this year (Crete) and he can’t wait.

Thanks Poptart, they look brilliant! The kids would have loads of fun, especially if they could go off and make friends.

These suggestions are all fab, thank you Glitterball
