Ideas for short break with 5 year old (lone parent)

Evening everyone, I'm hoping to get a few ideas for possible trips this summer wirh my 5 year old. Looking for around a 4 noght break as any longer and might lose the plot Grin

The last couple of years we've been to Copenhagen and driven around Holland, both times visiting Theme parks and play parks and had a great time!

As I'm travelling on my own, its quite important that there's activities/things to do to keep DS occupied Grin

I was originally planning on euro disney but now DS has decided he doesn't want to go. Help!!

Camping in and around St. Malo, dol de Bretagne we found lots of amusement park places to visit

Can I ask if you hired a car to get around?

I only ask as I hired a car to drive around Holland last year which was fab but VERY stressful having a small child constantly jabbering on in the back while I was trying to concentrate!

What about something like Butlins? We love it there :)

I have been on a 4 night holiday to the canary islands. flew from local airport children enjoyed the pool and beach was a lovely short break.

Generally we loved youth hostels. There are other people to talk to and a good price.

TheRoadToEverywhere · 25/02/2018 21:47

Whereabouts were the youth hostels Ellen?
I did consider a beach/pool type holiday but worried that DS will get bored without more things to do if its just me and him. I'm probably overthinking it!

I took my dd1 to disneyland Paris alone at about that age and we had a fabulous time. Not as expensive as I thought it would be and not as tacky either! Surpassed my expectations.

I would happily do disney but for some reason DS has now decided he doesn't want to go! Hmm

I took my own car and my 8 year old map read and did a pretty good job, my other dd was only 18 months so didn’t talk much 😂
