We went to Rome with my DN who was 13. He loved all of the history but his highlights were:
'Scavi' tour underneath St Peter's (need to book early)
Climbing St Peter's
Cappuchin Crypt
Catacombs tour
Pizza and Gelato making workshop
Day trip to Pompeii
Gladiator show a Guppo Storico Romano (it wasn't as cheesy as I thought it would be!)

Berlin, especially if he's interested in History.

Oop that’s a bit more than 3 hours.

My ds ( 20s) always does a city break with my dsis in Feb half term , they are off to Lisbon this week , last year they did Bucharest and went to Bram castle / Peles for a day trip . St Petersburg was very interesting . I wouldn’t do a day trip to Pompeii from Rome , we did it years ago and it was too much in a day . Barcelona is lovely .

My teen DSs loved Barcelona and Split (which has Game of Thrones locations).
