Top tips for Vegas (sans kids) please!

6 adults, leaving kids behind (scary but exciting at the same time!) off to Vegas for 5 days in a few months time.

Any tips for things to do/see?

We've plans to helicopter the grand canion and see a show (recommendations welcome) but aside from that, we don't have a clue what else to do!

We all drink and are totally up for crazy, but all late 30s/early 40s so not quite spring chickens!

Looking for recommendations for anything and everything: clubs, places to eat, things the girls can go off and do and same for the boys, coupley things, anything really!

Just wandering around the main hotel casinos on the strip will keep you entertained for hours.

The duelling pianos night at New York New York is excellent. You can reserve a table in advance for about $5.

I like the Neon Boneyard Museum where Vegas neon signs go to die. The nearby Mob Museum is good too. They are both in downtown. There's also a zip wire if you are feeling brave.

There's two outlet malls at either end of the strip and more shops at Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood and the Fashion Show Mall

Not my thing but my make friends love Battlefield Vegas, they will pick you up in a military Humvee to go and shoot guns at their range.

Oooh, the zip wire is right up my street. Shall def look into that! Also like the sound of the neon sign museum. Some good suggestions!

Brunch as the Cosmo also a good suggestion as I doubt we'll be up early enough for breakfast every day!

We saw the cirque show Love, it uses Beatles music and sort of tells the story of the group. It was excellent but not cheap.

I second a cirque de soleil show. Is Ka still on at the MGM Grand? Or "O" at the Bellagio.

Also piano bar for cocktails in the Bellagio

The show O at the Bellagio was amazing. Also Elton John if you can. Just wandering up and down the strip and seeing the different hotels is fun. The Venetian has (tiny) "canals" like Venice

Fountains at the bellagio, gondolas at the Venetian, tigers at mirage, but you'll see all these just wandering round. I have been 4 times and I never 'do' anything it's just crazy!

Yes see a show, think I saw O. Freemont show is good, I didn’t do the zip wire as hate heights. Did do the helicopter that landed in the Valley, amazing but was shit scared. Pack comfy shoes, so much walking!

If you want to see the fountains some restaurants have terraces so you can go out & have a look. Wynn was nice for a cocktails.

We're actually staying at the Bellagio so can't wait to see the fountains.

We have actually been to Vegas before - fleetingly - for a wedding about 9 years ago. But we didn't have time to do or see much as we weren't there for very long and much of the time was taken up with the wedding. We didn't even manage to gamble. We did manage to see a show though - I think it was 'O' but I'd love to see one of the other ones so hopefully we can do that this time.

I can see the girls toddling off for cocktails at the Wynn, looks fab!

The Cosmo was imo the best hotel. I think I stayed in the Aria which was nice but not as nice if that makes sense. I think the Bellagio is in the same area & it’s a good location. The Stratosphere is good for the views.

One thing that suprised me about Vegas was the quality of the restaurants & variety of cuisines so tuck in!

We went to see 'O' as well at the Bellagio which was amazing. We stayed in the New York New York which has a rollercoaster on the side....I'm not brave enough to go on it but my DH did and loved it. It also had an Irish bar with some interesting whisky cocktails.

If you are looking for some different food then the Mandarin Oriental Hotel had a gorgeous Japanese dinner.

You might not be into this but another show which was silly and a laugh was the 'Tournament of Kings' at the Excalibur....you get food with the ticket and its all medieval themed i.e. dragon's blood (tomato soup). Great fun but not to everyone's taste.

We did the Canyon early in the morning as it was extremely hot (August) which was totally the right thing to do. By 10am it was boiling and we had to find shade to sit in for a bit.

I suggest you check out the High Roller; it's the Vegas equivalent of the London Eye. However you can pay for a pod with a free bar for not much more than a standard pod. I suggest you go just before sunset as the views are fab and you get to drink cocktails while watching the setting sun. We only discovered this on our last night, which was a shame, as it was the cheapest and most beautiful place for pre dinner drinks!

Thanks for the tips re the Grand Canyon. Wouldn't have thought to factor in the weather. Should probably check temperatures for when we're going!

We also hired a convertible for the day - it was cheap and drove out to the desert. We had a great day and finished it by driving down The Strip with the roof down (we were there for my husband's 50th!!)
I also recommend The Capital Grille for a meal, not cheap but best steak in Vegas!
Try to get a table on the terrace a Mon Ami Gabi for a great meal and view of the Bellagio fountains.
Triple George in Freemont also worth eating in.
Enjoy.....we loved it!

Don't forget to take your ID with you all the time; we were refused service in 1 bar as we didn't have our passports - we were both 50 and as much as I think I'm wearing well.........my.imagination isn't that good!!!

We were there last summer and I would 100% recommend visiting a gun range! I wasn't too sure before hand but the whole experience was amazing and such a rush!

Grand Canyon- take the time to go to the proper south rim rather than the west rim.

Brunch - can’t beat the Wynn

Show - Cirque du soliel. Love is amazing if you like the Beatles. Any show is brilliant.

Big Elvis - plays at Harrahs. Free show. Great fun.

Best ever - Bellagio fountains.

Sunday brunch with endless champagne cocktails at the Mandalay was amazing

Fremont street with all the old style casinos and the covered mall with all the tv screens on the ceiling is great

Coyote Ugly Bar in NewYork Casino worth a visit for a few drinks

The pool at the Mandalay has a beach and a lazy river

A trip out to the Hoover Dam is a must

And is the Coyote Ugly Bar just like the one from the movie?

Are there any spa type places where you can get massages, nails done etc?

There are lots of spas in LV and The Spa at the Bellagio is supposed to be very good.

With regards to restaurants I would also suggest a visit to Hash House a Go Go at the LINQ (the High roller is near there too). This is open 24 hours a day place but would go there only when you are really hungry because the portion sizes are massive!!!.

Would also make use of the monorail system particularly in the summer time.

What time of year are you going?.

Even if you were not able to be outside on the terrace at Mon Ami Gabi (it often incurs a wait depending on day and time of day you arrive), its interior is also pleasant as well (and air conditioned).

I went the Michael Jackson 'One' show while I was there last year and it was one of the best things I have ever seen.

We did the early breakfast ride. Horses were amazing. My sh can't ride, he was wary - but loved it. The sunset and bbq ride would be great,
