Recommend me a hotel with teens

Please.

Have promised dd and her best friend that I (single parent) will take them away somewhere post exams, but I have no idea where.

They want: lots of other British teenagers, pools, the possibility of meeting boys Hmm,

I want: a decent standard of accommodation where we can all sleep in a proper bed in seperate spaces, a terrace or balcony or a nice enough resort that I don't have to ensure scrum by a pool, spa facilities. I'm a bit of a princess and don't really like people, so a bog standard Butlins in the med type resort would be my idea of hell.

We were thinking of Neilson, because we did those as a family for a few years and both kids loved the semi-arranged group activities and the relative freedom teens could have from parents. I'm willing to allow them to come and go within resort as they please, but I'm not happy with them hitting the clubs and bars of a big resort. But neither girl is particularly interested in sailing or tennis and wpuld prefer to just hang out by a pool so it seems a bit of a waste to go somewhere they are all included.

Has anyone been to anywhere that sounds like it could meet our needs? We're only going for a week so Europe and relatively short transfer times would be good.

I'd try aiming for one of the Club Med resorts which has a Passworld Club www.clubmed.co.uk/l/kids-passworld. Most Club Med resorts have a bungalow-style accommodation option with interconnecting rooms and several have balconies.

www.clubmed.co.uk/r/Kamarina/y This resort is 30mins from Cosimo airport in Sicily and some of the bungalows have balconies.

Alternatively try Martinhal Sagres in Portugal.

Watching with interest. I must have spent a week solid researching potential summer holidays, now I am just going in circles. I have a young teen boy (no doubt keen to meet girls too!) and a 7 and 11 year old to cater for too.

We did Neilson Sivota last year and are basically looking for the same again, but somewhere different. I have a feeling we may end up going to Croatia with them, although promised renovations sound fantastic it is a risk they might not materialise (Spa looks fantastic already though).

If you want peace and quiet but they want lots of other teens it is virtually an impossible ask! I looked at Club Med, but the ones above are more expensive for us than Neilson, for lesser quality kids club! I think Neilson may be your best bet.

We did Martinhal when it opened. It was fab then, but kids were much younger and it was quiet - not sure there would be the critical mass of teens that 16 year old dd would like.

I think we may end up at Neilson again - I'm loath to go for a big hotel in a resort town as I don't want to spend my entire holiday telling them that they can't go to the nightclubs with the slightly older teens (and there is no way i am letting two just 16 year olds loose on the night life of the Costa's - I remember my own experiences there too well. Neilson just does the mix of safety and freedom so well. Club Med does look lovely - but as you say it's the same price.

Sleepyoto - I've just looked at Mark Warner and they have taken over Phokaia from Neilsons. It's really lovely, and has fantastic 2 bedroom villas with a lounge which has a slightly seperate sleeping area which might be great for you and your 3.

Thanks Mrs - I'm about to go ahead and book Croatia with Neilson, I have spoken to them and the renovated family rooms will have 3 separate rooms, which is a huge bonus for a teen who wants his own space...

Thanks for the tip about Phokaia. It looks lovely but I read the reason Neilson pulled out of Turkey was low sales (which would in turn affect atmosphere in resort). It might be less of an issue this year but I don't really want to be a guinea pig for a new resort. Am certainly less keen to book Turkey myself atm (although will def consider for next year once reviews are in). Neilson seem much more responsive to customer feedback (all of the complaints I read about Croatia seem to be being addressed in the refurb) therefore, we are going to go with Neilson :-) Good luck with your search!
