Kuoni - I just want prices, not a 'conversation'

I'm looking at the Kuoni brochure which has a train journey in India that DH and I like the look of for a landmark celebration next year.

The itinerary is all written down - but no prices. I looked on the website- no prices there - so I opened a live chat asking for the cost for the dates we could go.

No can do - the sales guy wants a 'conversation' to plan our 'amazing tour'.

Aibu to think this is a pure upselling job?

And, does anyone have suggestions for a more straightforward but reliable tour operator which would do the same sort of thing and just give me a price?

Maybe go through an independent travel agent? They're bound to know ballpark figures

Thanks creme, that's a really good thought.

Kuoni royally fucked up our honeymoon.

I hate the bastards

leccybill · 09/12/2017 22:53

I can't afford Kuoni but this kind of shit would def put me off using them forever
Conversation indeed.

Give trailfinders a look. They were excellent when booking our honeymoon.

Kitchener · 09/12/2017 23:18

Sorry to hear that danny.
I agree leccy.
Thanks sausage, I think Trailfinders could be the way to do it.

I second Trailfinders. As we have been repeat customers with them we also got some excellent discounts and freebies thrown in on our last trip with them.

We found the exact same holiday in a better room for half the price that Kuoni were charging for a standard room in the same hotel. Haven’t bothered with them since.

Cakescakescakes · 09/12/2017 23:27

We used Trailfinders to plan a trip to India a few years ago and they were excellent.

We used Trailfinders as well for our multi centre honeymoon in Mexico - they were excellent and took it off my hands at a time I was really busy but as I'm a cheap skate I prefer to book our trips direct to save ££. I know it's more of a pain in time terms but why not take the Kuoni itinerary, use Skycanner and one of the hotel comparison sites, whittle it down and book the train online directly?

Elmosmum · 11/12/2017 18:48

Drives me bonkers too - I had to fill in an online form and it was DAYS before they got back to me. I advised them I had booked with someone who was interested in getting back to their customersSmile

Audley Travel offer the same Rail holidays in India and have prices on their web site. Pretty expensive - I guess that’s why Kuoni don’t print them! Kuoni may actually be cheaper though. Other firms sell these trips too.

Kitchener · 13/12/2017 20:21

Thanks all. Yes, the rail trip is eye wateringly expensive - out of our price range! We're looking at Trailfinders instead.

We booked with Trailfinders for our holidays to the Seychelles and Thailand- considerably cheaper than Kuoni and better deals too ( room upgrade/ daily allowance)
Also used them when booking flights only to China and Cambodia for dds and got great deals too...they will match skyscanner prices and I'm always wary of booking online without speaking to someone first
