Am I allowed marzipan in hand baggage?

That's it really. I'm not checking any bags in, only have hand baggage.
Internal flight within the UK.

I really don't want to waste my DM's money and effort making me home made marzipan, just for it to be confiscated.
Do you think it will be classed as a paste, in which case it's not allowed!

The restrictions are no liquids, gels or pastes over 100ml each.

TroubleinDaFamily · 27/11/2017 19:57

Not a chance I should think.

MollyHuaCha · 27/11/2017 20:05

Isn't it a solid?

purplecorkheart · 27/11/2017 20:13

Once it is a solid it should be fine. However leave it at the top of your bag when it is going through the scanner as it can look like something else going through the machine so may have to take it out and show security.

Erm, Semtex smells of almonds. I hope no one gets a whiff at the airport Grin

TroubleinDaFamily · 27/11/2017 20:20

Grin Grin Longdistance.

Mrstrumpalot · 27/11/2017 21:04

Ooh, I still don't know what to do!
I'm tempted to take a chance but will be so frustrated if it's taken off me.

How about you post this question again on MN in a different section? Things like Chat and AIBU get loads of views and you might get a response from someone who works in airport security.

ColonelJackONeil · 27/11/2017 21:12

You will just have to eat it in the airport

Longdistance · 27/11/2017 21:14

It should be ok to take through as it’s a solid. Though the almond smell might raise a few eye brows...

SkeletalFishtail · 27/11/2017 21:20

I was NOT allowed marzipan in my hand luggage. This was in Denmark flying back to UK. Exact same consistency as Semtex or some other bomb making material if I remember correctly

Owlish · 27/11/2017 21:23

Why don't you post it to yourself? Might cost a little if there's a lot of it, but saves wasting it.

Mrstrumpalot · 01/12/2017 17:02

Well pleased to say there was no problems getting said marzipan back!
