Fancy a couple of weeks in January. Not fond of AI but would like somewhere laid back. No kids.

Koh Tao is very good for snorkelling.

What’s it like as a place to visit?

It was over 20 years ago when I went so I'm guessing may have changed slightly. It was always very much a dive orientated island and I believe that's still the same. So nice beaches, great snorkelling, fairly quiet. It's a bit more complicated to get to than other places so not as frequented by idiots which is good. You'd be able to fly to koh samui from Bangkok and then boats from there. About 2 hours on a boat.

I was there just as the airport opened at koh samui and I know koh samui has changed a lot since the airport so possibly koh Tao is busier and more built up now.

If you go to one of the islands near koh samui the end of Jan may be better weather wise. This area has a different monsoon season and the rain is from oct-Dec generally but can still be a bit wet early Jan. Not all day though.

It's been about 20 years since I was there too...I suspect the whole of Thailand has changed a lot. Thank you!
