Recommend a European lake holiday

DH, DD(11) and I are interested in a mountain/lake holiday in August next year. We usually self catering in France or similar but fancy a bit of a change next time.
Where have you been that you'd recommend?

Anywhere in the Tirol is my advice
There's a beautiful lake Hintersteinersee near Scheffau but tbh it was a long time ago so I don't know about self catering or leisure activities these days.

How about Ohrid? Will be very hot in August though! I loved Lake Bled too, I found it very peaceful.

You definitely need to go OP! You should then go back again in winter when the lake is frozen over and the castle in the centre looks like something out of a fairy tale. It’s stunning.

Lake Constance!!!! Its stunning. And its right on border with Austria, Germany and Switzerland. With a backdrop of the Alps.
