Does this sound ok for Orlando?

We do not plan on hiring a car. Unless DH really wants to for a trip to the space centre.

So land and taxi to Cabana Hotel for two nights to get express passes in Universal. Do Harry Potter.

Move to Saratoga Springs in a one bedroom suite for 12 nights or may be 14 and do parks including water parks for rest days and shopping etc.

Thinking that doing Universal first with express pass will help. Quicker queues and no long waiting if we have jet lag. Then we are fresh and ready for Disney.

This is currently for 2018 so getting DDP included.

What time of year are you thinking of visiting?.

You can get an Uber out to Kennedy Space Center from Orlando.

Saratoga Springs is handily located for the Disney Springs Marketplace.

Can you up grade to one of the other universal hotels, the cabana one is lovely. However some of the other hotels come with early park entry AND express passes... although the hotel may be more expensive you may save on park tickets. I'd price it up and see

We've just got back and Express passes at Universal were a godsend. It would be ideal to have a hotel which gives early access as you'll be up VERY early on the first day and it gives you a great head start.

The Harry Potter bit is fabulous!

West - Cabana does give express and extra hours.

Daily Cabana does not give express passes just early entry. The only hotels that give free express passes are Hard Rock, Royal Pacific or Portofino Bay. I know this as I have just booked one for our family.

I stayed at Cabana in March and it was only early entry

Thanks west. You are right. I must have misread something in all of my weekend reading. Need to look at universal hotels again.

I found it OK, not great. The rooms were nice, and the beds really comfortable, but I didn't like the plasticky public areas and 50s theme with its dreadful loop of music being blared out all the time. I found the food there expensive and rather dull. It is huge and impersonal wicih was a bit of a culture shock to me as we are used to staying in small family run places in Europe.

The irony is that to get to the cheaper (and nicer) places to eat you need a car or taxi.

The shuttle bus to Islands of Adventure/Universal were brilliant though.
