Apologies - posted in chat then remembered about this section.

They're both the same distance from my house. We've got two 11 year olds who are big enough for the big rides, but are the big rides at alton towers too big iyswim?
I've never been to Drayton Manor. Can anyone tell me about it?

How tall are they? And what kind of rides do they like?

We went to AT at the weekend with friends including a 15y, 12y and 10y - they all went on every coaster there plus some other rides.

Longest queue was about 45 minutes but that was only one, rest were less than half an hour. Many 10/15 minutes max. Looked busy on arrival but wasn't bad inside at all.

We had fun.

They weren't 'too big' for the younger two we were with but it depends on your children I guess.
