I am trying to compare the cost of our holiday. Could you please share how much you spent this year?
Our spendings ( 9 days in Spain, begining of August):

  • £846 Ryanair flights to Malaga and back ( hand luggage)
  • 943 euro - hotel (breakfasts only)
  • 325 euro - car hire for the whole stay
  • 831 euro - daily meals, shopping, warter park, zoo, etc
Total £2753 - I think that's not too bad - could it be done cheaper?

I think that's great ! We are off to Corfu for two weeks this weekend.Holiday (2+2) staying in a one bedroomed apartment has cost 2,250 euro (package of flights and hotel).Insurance is 46 euro and our car parking at the airport for the two weeks is 38 euro. Will update with food costs etc when we get home we are self catering so will be interesting to see what it costs us!

oh yes plus £55 car park at the airport. I do not count travel insurance as we have got an annual one.
Corfu sounds great - never been there - will be interesting to compare the cost.

Family of 4, just come back from two weeks in Lake Garda in an apartment, flights including luggage, 2 weeks car hire, airport parking and insurance £1950.

Just booked for August 2018.
Flights to Tenerife including luggage, 2 bedroom house with it's own swimming pool in a rural village in the north of the island, £1600 with car hire, airport parking and insurance it will come in under £2000.

Booking early, being flexible on destination and shopping around works for us.

HolTimeAgain - is food included in your total?
Which airline did you book 2018 flight?

Majorca, 1 week, end of August, 2 adults + 2 DC under 6

Flights (Ryanair) with 2x 20 & 2x 15kg luggage £601
All inclusive lovely 4* hotel, booked direct €1500
Car hire for a week £134
Spending money about £250 due to all inclusive hotel

Total approx £2385

No - I didn't include food. We self catered and shopped in Lidl most of the time, food, booze and fuel would have been about 300 euro.

Tenerife flights were booked with Jet2 - one of the few airlines selling summer 2018 already. Price seemed like a good deal so we booked!!!!

We're driving down to France to have 10 nights in a static caravan for £900. That includes ferries back and forth. No idea what we will spend on food etc but planning to spend our time in pool and on beach.
