What will I forget to pack that I might just need?

I'm after some advice/recommendations/reminders of what I need to take with us to Greece next week. We haven't been on a package holiday for years and I'm worried I'll forget something vital.

We went to Florida last year so could easily call into a supermarket but also were in a villa so had plenty of equipment etc to hand. This year shopping will be limited as we are staying in a quiet area of Kefalonia.

What are the things I need to remember?

Thanks

An extension cable and lots of travel adaptors and all the chargers you require. I often take a washing line and clothes pegs in case there is somewhere to attach it to for hanging washing

Travel wash?

Yika · 13/08/2017 21:49

ear plugs
mosquito repellent

Kr1stina · 13/08/2017 21:53

Are you staying in a hotel or an apartment? Usually there is somewhere to hang washing and it's very hot right now so clothes will dry quickly.

CremeFresh · 13/08/2017 21:55

Small first aid kit - plasters, mozzie repellent, antiseptic cream.

Ooh some good ideas thanks. We are in a villa with a terrace so hopefully somewhere to dry towels etc.

Adding these to my list now.

CremeFresh · 13/08/2017 21:56

Kindle or books.

ScarlettDarling · 13/08/2017 21:57

Sudocrem...essential for itchy rashes, sunburned patches, soothing sore bottoms if you get the runs etc etc etc!

2gorgeousboys · 13/08/2017 21:57

I never would have thought about an eye mask - good shout. I'll have to see if I can dig out the Virgin one from last years flight!

Cotton buds. They fit nicely in an urine sample bottle.

Tean1 · 13/08/2017 21:58

Things I have (frequently) forgotten when packing:

Pyjamas
Socks
Sun cream
Swimming costume
Prescription medication
Toiletries (random items usually but last holiday had to buy shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, nail clippers and nail file)

2gorgeousboys · 13/08/2017 21:59

@CremeFresh my Kindle was the very first thing on the list. I loaded lots of lovely new books on to it last week so it's all ready.

I normally go through what I'd do in a day in my head. So, get up have a wee (loo roll) , shower (shower gel/shampoo), brush teeth (toothbrush and paste), get dressed (cozzie, shorts , tops, undies) etc.

CremeFresh · 13/08/2017 22:02

Kindles are the best , I can get through a book a day on holiday !

cheminotte · 13/08/2017 22:02

Antihistamine cream and pills for the mozzie bites that you will get.
Painkillers, plasters, any other medical stuff that might not be as easy to get as at home

LoniceraJaponica · 13/08/2017 22:06

Aren't pyjamas a little warm? I tend to wear a strappy nightie when it is hot.

Make sure all your electronics are fully charged.

SummerSazz · 13/08/2017 22:10

Neurofen and if you've got kids then kids neurofen (DD1 has an ear infection currently on holiday and has got through almost a whole bottle!)

Anthisan for bites

Aloevera for sunburn

Plasters

Immodium would have been helpful for me Blush

Just come back from Greece.
Took those little squeezey mega concentrated cordial drinks as DD didn't like the sweet syrupy juices there.
Also, lollipops for popping ears on the plane.
Pegs for pinning towels down, Greek Islands can be breezy.
YY to Sudocrem.
Carrier bags- fill up with dirty washing and tip straight into machine.

FanSpamTastic · 13/08/2017 22:11

Depending on where you are in kefalonia - some cheap water shoes! Beach is sandy but there are sea urchins in the water and some horrid spiky little burrs in the seaweed!

FanSpamTastic · 13/08/2017 22:12

DH says beer bottle opener - had to go out and buy one as none in the villa we were in.

BoffinMum · 13/08/2017 22:14
