40th Birthday this year and we'd like to go away in Nov to celebrate, dh and I no dc i'd love a log cabin with snow but don't think there will be much around mid/late Nov.

I'd love a view I'd love to wake up and be awed by the sight. I love landscapes, countryside, snow, lakes anything like that.

Please help inspire me!

Just come back from Oregon. the area around Mount hood would be fantastic for what you want.

www.mthoodrent.com we booked through these people and this is where we stayed. real log cabin.

Looks lovely! I should have mentioned it's a short break 3 nights only.

Lapland won't have snow...thought about a lovely Irish castle but it'll no doubt be pissing it down.

I'm stumped.

How about one of these cabins?

No snow but this is a beautiful and very romantic place to stay www.holidayardnamurchan.co.uk/accommodation/the-seashell/

The drive there is single track and a bit hairy - and you have to take all your provisions with you as shopping is limited - but it's so worth it. Short drive to Sanna Beach which is possibly the most gorgeous beach ever. We would leave out biscuits with peanut butter for the pine marten at night, and the deer running about in the fields below. Truly stunning.

Zermatt, Switzerland! Even if there's no snow in the village, you'll see the snowy Matterhorn. Easy to reach by train from Zurich and a beautiful place.

LazySusan11 · 15/08/2017 15:58

Zermatt appeals, any ideas of a good hotel with a beautiful view?

The Omnia looks nice in Zermatt

The Dolder is good in Zurich if you also want to spend a night there - late Nov Christmas markets should be starting in town

Ishouldbedoingsomething · 15/08/2017 16:35

You could get the Glacier express from St Moritz to Zermatt

I want to do that but need to get someone to look after DC

itsmehello · 15/08/2017 16:38

The Omnia is amazing but also quite expensive. I also liked the Albana Real or the Christiania.
