How long do you need there? What time of year, has to be in school holidays. Any ideas for accommodation, 13 years boy, 9 years girl, hubby and I ideally not in one hotel room.

I live in NY and I just want to emphasize DO NOT DO AIR BnB. In my last apartment building I actually saw people being turned away by the concierge. It's not rumor/exaggeration.

That being said, I'd you're looking for cheaper hotels, I always recommend Long Island City. One subway stop from Manhattan, great restaurants, interesting museums and a fantastic waterfront park with the best Manhattan views you can find (see pics) . The hotels are mostly new, and a bit cheaper than Manhattan.

Went in October half term just gone. Weather was lovely about 20 degrees. We stayed in a suite at the hotel Wellington which was huge by NYC standards!
