Hi, sorry if this has been covered before but I hope someone can help 😊 We aren't having a holiday this year due to various reasons so I am looking for next June. My question is how much entertainment does a 3 year old actually need? I'm exploring all options and I get very confused! There's a lovely apartment complex in Portugal which has children's pool and small playground but no water slides, splash park or mini clubs/activities, minindisco so would a 3 year old be bored here? Alternatively I'm considering eurocamp in Italy which seems to have everything you could ask for... slides, clubs, bikes, playgrounds, little rides, disco etc! I don't fancy an all inc hotel as I prefer flexible eating. In your past experience would a 3 year old be entertained enough with a pool, trips to beach and just his parents?or do they need more interaction with other kids via holidays that offer more kids facilities which in turn will obviously attract many more families?! As it's a year away I don't have much experience with what 3 year old kids are like!
Thanks in advance

At 3 I think they'd be more than happy with a little pool and a playground. No need for loads of entertainment, save that for when the kids are older. As once you start that it's hard to go back!

my kids were happy with a pool, play area and the beach at that age. he did get bored in a guite (can never spell that). They didn't like all the kids clubs anyway when we did the eurocamp type holidays.

dont overlook your needs too. a 3 year old will be happy playing with their favourite toys wherever they are, but if you dont like it its not going to be great for you

Depends how much they like swimming. Mine did used to get bored with the pool etc., even with other kids, but to be fair, we live in HK so an outdoor pool isn't that exciting. Now he's older and can do stuff like "jump onto the lilo from the diving board" for 5 hours he's more into it. A beach definitely added another dimension as they loved digging, running in and out of the waves etc.

Our 3 year old is entertained with a pool and a beach. Air conditioning is a must have

WhatBigSandyBalls said. At age 3 they will be quite happy with a beach, a playground and attention from Mum and Dad, but if you go for somewhere with lots of extra facilities/entertainment you will then have set the standard and they will expect that for every holiday!

One other thing interesting thing I remember about my DD at that age is that she could quite happily make friends with other children without it mattering whether the other child spoke English.

Based on our holiday to Corfu this year with 3yo DS, a pool shallow enough to sit/paddle in, a sandy beach and lots of attention from the parents does the job nicely.
However, we're sticking to Alpine or UK holidays in places DH and I love for a bit as DS is very anti-heat.

Great, thanks for all your advice. I think we will hold off on the kids clubs etc for another year or so based on your experiences. Thanks again! X
