Special occasion NYC restaurant suggestions

It's dds 21st birthday and we are going to New York

Can anyone suggest somewhere special we can go for dinner & drinks?
Doesn't have to be mega expensive, maybe somewhere with good views, nice atmosphere etc

Robert (top of the museum of art and design) spectacular view

We have been to Robert too - 2 years ago. Good food and great view of Central Park.

Alternative would be the Restaurant by the lake in Central Park - Boathouse - but we have done lunch not dinner.

We held our wedding reception in Keens Steakhouse. The staff were fantastic and made it special

Robert looks beautiful but the menu is far too posh for us - squid ink pasta

Any other suggestions gratefully received

Ummm! That's just dark grey pasta! Not very unusual. We like The Mercer Kitchen but you probably won't.

I can't personally recommend as haven't been, but next time we go Gallow Green is on our list.

Minetta tavern fantastic atmosphere. The burger is the thing to have.
Schillers liquor bar for drinks is also a lot of fun
