I had booked a holiday for a wee 6 day break with my kids leaving 11th June. The company I booked through cancelled the holiday ( didn't realise it was all part of timeshare scheme and since no husband they cancelled it)

I was looking at Turkey and not sure if good idea.
What do you all think?

Yes. Am off shortly & feel happier about it than I would to go to London atm.

PotteringAlong · 05/06/2017 09:34

Yes. But why can't you go to a timeshare without a husband?!

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 05/06/2017 14:56

Yes, absolutely. I love Turkey and we go a lot.

Hersetta427 · 05/06/2017 16:46

yes - in fact we got home yesterday from our half term week away. Had a brilliant time - hotel was amazing.

Noooo. I know Turks that won't go back to turkey right now! Confused

useless65 · 07/06/2017 22:50

I have been offered a weekend trip in Turkey - first holiday no kids in years ! - nr Marmaris so far from any of the main problem areas to avoid as advised y fco but still nervous - what are your views? Is it safe - well as safe as mainland Europe would be ?

useless65 · 07/06/2017 22:51

user 148 - is that particular areas that they won't visit ? Do they perceive it as more dangerous than say London or Paris right now?

GiraffeorOcelot · 07/06/2017 22:54

Marmaris is miles away from the issues. We have been there before and are considering going again next year.

TheFairyCaravan · 07/06/2017 22:56

No I wouldn't. It's not just the country it's the flight. You can't take electronics in the cabin on the flight home. The Govt haven't done that for nothing.

My cousins have just come back from Turkey, they had a fantastic holiday. Yes I'd go. WTF is up with the no husband thing?

user1487941567 · 07/06/2017 23:14

They won't visit any of it. They are British nationals who go there for dental treatment and to stay with family. We don't really consider London dangerous tbh, we all grew up here in a fairly rough area 😂 But yes, more dangerous than Paris. Not just terrorism, but the president and the army are a massive concern. It's in turmoil.

user1487941567 · 07/06/2017 23:16

His army were shooting civilians in the fake coup while MIL/FIL were there. We watched some pretty horrific and uncensored stuff on Turkish TV.

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 08/06/2017 19:06

My husband is Turkish and there are parts he wouldn't go to but he would go to a holiday resort. the resorts are as safe as anywhere else at the moment. I live in London and I think a Turkish holiday resort seems a safer place to me at the moment.
