Anybody got compensation for delayed luggage?

Our luggage was delayed over 24 hours when we arrived on holiday. The only shop was on the hotel site and we ended up spending €160 euros on toothpaste, toothbrushes, flip flops, t shirt, shorts and a beach dress type thing. We didn't buy a lot but the shop was crazy expensive. €6 for toothpaste!!

The holiday rep is trying to give us £30 compensation which we aren't really happy with. We are €160 Euro out of pocket and the stuff we bought isn't stuff we even like or would have bought ordinarily. But we arrived in jeans, jumpers and trainers and I don't think we could be expected to spend 2 days like that in 27 degree heat. Plus my baby had an accident and my clothes had blood on.

I just have a feeling we are going to be expected to make do with the £30. So I wondered if anybody else had had a similar experience, and if so, whether you were compensated?

What does your travel insurance cover?

I'm not sure though I think only lost bags not delayed, but there's a £95 excess on baggage cover so we would still be out of pocket.
The things we bought are not even things we would ever have bought under normal circumstances. You know the type of clothing these hotel boutiques sell. Lots of glitzy embellishments etc ConfusedGrin
