Driving from Calais to Nice - suggestions for overnight stop

As the title suggests we are driving from Calais to near Nice at the end of August and don't want to do it in one hit with a 4 yr old and a 3 month old. Any suggestions as to where to stay? Apparently Beaune is one option, does anyone know a childfriendly hotel/B&B

thanks

Beaune is lovely and we recommended it to friends looking for an overnight stop on the way south last year. The only hotel in Beaune in the Good Hotel Guide (2001) sounds smart, rather than child-friendly, but they also recommend an hotel in Chateauneuf-en-Auxios, "on a hilltop near Dijon". It has a children's play area, which is a good sign. The web address is www.hostellerie-chateauneuf.com If you tell me what your budget is, I can look up the 2002 edition of Gault Millau, the guide that we normally use.
