Anyone taken inter-city buses in Sicily?

We've got 2 weeks in Sicily in August and I was planning for us to travel around by train. Didn't know trains would sell out so quickly and can only get availability for one of our journeys unfortunately. We're going to have to take the bus between Taormina & Syracuse and Syracuse & Catania. Has anyone out there taken buses in high season? Can't seem to book them online in advance - can you buy them from ticket booths for specific buses in advance? Thanks to anyone who can throw some light on this!!

There is a great minibus transfer system in Sicily called Siciltransfert.

Cheers! Just looked at their website - only gives airport pick up quotes? It's really info on the buses I'm after. The drive between Taormina & Syracuse is 2 hours & even with a shared minibus it's probably going to be pretty expensive I imagine?

We traveled Sicily in 2012 and went between cities by bus. I don't remember the exact details but we organised them once we were there and had no problems (were there in May/June).
