rescue remedy - speak to your doctor before you go - may be able to give your something.

take a book and puzzle book to distract you.

Enjoy it!

Where are you going anywhere nice?

massagemum · 06/03/2007 21:12

Sorry just reread that!! Obviously you wouldn't be going anywhere horrible!

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 07/03/2007 09:30

My GP gives me diazapan for flying. Works well!

vvvvvvv · 07/03/2007 19:34

Alcohol! Or take 2 small children with you, THEY'LL distract you! We flew our DSs, then 2 and 4, from Brisbane to the UK. I'm not a good flyer despite many airmiles including some very dodgy internal Chinese airlines 20 years ago (gulp)! Do everything you can to alleviate your fear- rationalising, some science; do the diazepam or alcohol (prob best if not BOTH!) but fear of flying can SO limit you these days, you have to try and overcome it, or perhaps bring it under manageable control.

swedishmum · 07/03/2007 21:34

I hate hate hate flying, despite doing at least 10 single flights a year. Love booking, airport etc, just panic totally on board! Strategy?
First, I know a BA pilot. He's rational. He'd change jobs if he thought it was high risk. Second, Bach Rescue Remedy, plus a very stiff Brandy.
You'll love it when you're there - I always do. It's the only reason I travel. Do see the doctor or contact local airport if you are truly worried - lots do courses.

Get your doctor to prescribe you anti anxiety medication

I get diatzepan ( I think thats how you spell it) Works like a charm on long haul

mosschops30 · 07/03/2007 21:39

diazepam doesnt work for me, it can only make you disassociate the fear (like pethidine in labour) so you still get scared just on a different level.

bachs rescue remedy works best for me, although take no notice of recommended dose just end up drinking half the bottle at boarding

vvvvvvv · 09/03/2007 19:57

yep im gonna def take the batch remady thanks everone for taking time to answer me.xxx

Thunderpants · 11/03/2007 20:15

I drank loads of it on a very turbulent flight to italy and it did no good whatsoever. I think it's all in the mind personally. (sorry, should have posted before you bought it!!) Maybe it works for some and not others, depnding on the level of fear?

vvvvvvv · 11/03/2007 20:55

what do you just drink it?i put some in acup 4 drops with some water didnt do anythink how long till it works and whats ment to happen

OP posts:
pinkchampagne · 11/03/2007 21:01

You either put 4 drops in water & sip, or you squeeze 4 drops onto your tongue.

pinkchampagne · 11/03/2007 21:02

Nothing happens as such, it is just meant to calm you down & prevent anxiety attacks.

vvvvvvv · 11/03/2007 21:11

did i do it right 4 drops in a glass of water? how did you fell after taking it?

OP posts:
pinkchampagne · 11/03/2007 21:36

I felt no different after taking it, just didn't get any panic attacks. That could be coincidental, but I do feel calmer.

vvvvvvv · 11/03/2007 21:56

ok thanks, sorry to be a pain but im just so so scared of having one on the plane and feel so alone thats all but thankyou so much for all your help.i think im a freak as i had 4drops in a glass of water and got scared like it gonna make me have a panic attack and my heart started to beat i also get were you feel like your not hear if you understand that have you ever had that like your looking down on the world

I have flown several times and still panic at take off, my cure is 2 small bottles of white wine from the trolley, works a treat!

vvvvvvv · 11/03/2007 22:10

yes i bet i would love too but as i have panic attacks i cant drink as it allways sets one off thanks fot the tip anyway

OP posts:
pinkchampagne · 11/03/2007 22:53

Sounds like a good solution to me, triplets!!

Hope you're ok v's. The RR won't lead to panic attack, honestly.

pinkchampagne · 11/03/2007 22:55

I always take my RR with me & pop it straight on my tongue when needed.

Nbg · 11/03/2007 22:58

vvvvvv, I have some RR in the cupboard unopened. I bought it for when I had my ds but keep meaning to try it.

I will if you will
I understand how scared you are. I hate flying and adding panic attacks into the equation doesnt help.

Do you find doing things can help distact you? I bought a Nintendo DS before xmas to help distract me when I went to bed and it worked.
Obviously you dont have to spend a load of cash but anything like a crossword. Something to keep your brain active and thinking of other things.

vvvvvvv · 12/03/2007 10:39

nbg,yes lets try the rr then?we will do it tonight.if im busy then yes it takes my mind off of it its only when i think about it but i cant get it of my mind.
im going for a full body mass today im hoping that it relaxes me enough not to freck out and get all sweety and have one.i really hate panic attckes and noe its starting to play apart in my life?
