Car Hire Company Recommendations

We're off to France for our holidays this year and was wondering if anyone could recommend any good car hire companies.

Searching on the web I found that Holiday Autos are the cheapest but are they any good compared to say Avis or Hertz etc??

When we rent in Europe we always get our cars through autoeurope . We've been using them for years and have never had any major problems. They act as agent for lots of the major companies. You pay in full in advance, but can get a full refund at any time before the rental. The advantage is that there are no surprises when you pick up the car (like insurance or local taxes).

We used autoeurope in Germany and it was very good and very easy.

I usually use Hertz as I find their service is the best.
