Britax Duo plus on airplane

We will be flying to San Francisco in May and want to take a car seat on the plane for our two year old so that she can sleep etc. Has anyone used a Britax Duo plus car seat for a toddler on a plane? Did it fit?! We're flying with Virgin.

ALice - I have taken seats on when babies. However when seatbelt light lit ie take off, landing or turbulence they have always had to come out of car seat and sit on Dh or my laps. Have always been told they can't be used for take off or landing or turbulence

Having flown with a two year old I think you are crazy to take a car seat in the plane. It's much better imo to give them some space to wriggle and get comfy. Stick it in the hold if you can use it at your destination.

Artandco, I'm the opposite. That's never happened to me.

Kp - really? We fly every 4-6 weeks, so two children that's around 30 flights with baby car seat. All had strict instructions. Various airlines

Never put a car seat in the hold of a plane. They get chucked about like god knows what.

As long as he's been strapped into the seat then it's been fine.

When we went away with our 4 year old recently we booked 3 seats in a row, child slept with head on me and legs on dad for duration of both flights!
