Nice arrondissements in Paris

I have been promising DS for years that I would take him to Paris as he really wants to go up the Eiffel Tower. It's actually on his "bucket list"!

I've never been keen on Paris but remember finding some lovely areas (with markets and a pleasant untouristy feel) when I lived there decades ago. But I can't for the life of me remember the names of these places.

Does anyone have any recommendations for non touristy parts of Paris to stay in (that are preferably accessible by metro)?

We went in July and stayed in Le Marais which is the 3rd I think. It's really cool area - a lot going on, great restaurants etc. I really liked being there. The hotel we picked was called Les Tournelles. Very good value and a lovely room. Breakfast was extra, but we were fine with that as there are enough places to pick up croissants!
