Any mumsnetters live near Mapperley, Nottingham?

Or Nottingham in general? We're off to visit a very elderly family friend there on Saturday and I need to find somewhere dh can take the children after lunch as I don't think they will be able to hold it together for the whole afternoon with a 98 year old. Are there any leisure centres, soft play-type places near Mapperley? Or just recommendations for a park / walk nearby. Would really appreciate some tips. Thanks.

There's a nice park on Woodthorpe Drive, which is off Mapperley Plains, turn right at the Jet station. Depending on which part of Mapperley, there is a leisure centre in Carlton called Carlton Forum (don't know the address) or a pool in Arnold on Front Street. Will have a think and see if I can come up with anything else. How old are your children?

Thanks Ali - she's not far from Mapperley Plains, I think, so the park would be good. My kids are 6, nearly 4 and 18 months. Dh won't be able to take them all swimming on his own, but I will check out the Carlton Forum to see if they have soft play.

Any other Nottingham folk about this morning?

Think there's a soft play thing in Arnold, it was mentioned in one of the nursery details we read, tiny tots or something. By the way, the park I mentioned is Woodthorpe Park, on the left as you go down the hill- don't go in the football field with a little play park on the right!
