We've just come back from a John Fowler one and it was excellent ( and I had the same worries as you!)

Yeah, we've been to Ruda. Sept 2002, Very nice, but didn't use any of the facilities except the pool, so can't report on the kiddies clubs or evening entertainment if thats what you are looking for. It's right on the beach and what a beach! Also good for walks along the cliffs or through fields to Croyde village. Apart from that, we spent most days out and about. A very enjoyable holiday. We have just had our 3rd Haven holiday , which was good, again we didn't use any of the facilities, just used the caravan as our base. We prefer the quiter sort or holiday so look for the Haven 'lively parks' rather than the 'all action'. The other reason for going is the price, when we booked they were half price. £150-£175for a week for the 3 of us. What a deal! We've also got Doniford Bay to look forward to in September, then will probably progress onto other sorts of holidays, when DS starts school next year.

PS Ruda and Haven have quite stricy rules about rowdyness at night and patrol the sites to makesure theres noone delibrately disturbing others and I think Ruda, but definately Haven don't allow anybody apart from families.
