Taking dd to see 'Lion King' - anything worth doing before/after in Covent Garden?

I'm thinking of taking dd to see 'Lion King' onstage. As she's 6, I'll probably aim for a matinee performance. Before or after (depending on timing and her stamina), we might then walk wander around Covent Garden.

Have any Mumsnetters been to the area recently, and do you have any suggestions for things to do/things to avoid? Are certain days of the week better? I know there used to be amusing street entertainers - are they still there, and if so, are they any good? Weekends only?
Would also appreciate any food/eating out ideas.

Your suggestions (and the show tickets) will guarantee one very excited little girl, so thanks in advance for any tips.

Covent Garden has to be my most favourite place in London, not that I am there very often....!
We were last summer and the Boys so enjoyed all the street artists, etc...

you will love just wandering around - there are still street performers and you can always head to trafalgar and walk down to buck palace or go along the thames.

She might even like the national gallery!
