Family Villa Holiday Suggestions - Val de Lobo ?

Two families, need 4 bedooms. Have been to Vale de Lobo years ago but shocked at current prices :-O

Any recommendations or suggestions either for here or other areas gratefully received. No budget set as yet but obviously not mega, mega bucks.

Would like close to amenities, evening entertainment etc. Generally a lovely family location but without being mega commercialised.

it always looked expensive whenever i've viewed it over the years. what about lagos, tavira, cabanas or vilamoura? i've not been to the latter but its always sounded ok bar the lack of beaches. Or alvor i think it was (opposite side of estuary to a big town) and lots of people on here rave about carboevia - spelt wrong i'm sure
