Edinburgh - Looking for Classes or Similar for Mummy and DS who's 2

Hi

I want to start doing things with my DS, maybe mother and baby classes or something like this?

I have no friends with babies and want my DS to start meeting other children his own age. I also want to spend the time with him so preferably something that involves my interaction rather than just taking him somewhere and letting him get on with it.

Anyone got any suggestions?

jo jingles, tumbletots, swimming. I did all of them in Edinburgh.

not keen on mums and toddlers then? they can be great or hell depending on the clientel!

BassMama · 06/02/2007 00:31

To be honest i really dont know what mother and toddler involves!

Swimming is out as i cant go swimming with contacts in, and wont wear my glasses!

whats jo jingles?

jo jingles is a music class it's alright they have a website to search for local classes.

i have abysml eyesight-10! and kept my lenses in without goggles without any probs.

mums and toddlers is generally a hall with loads of toys and lots of kids of varying preschool age. mums supervise, or not depending on the mum) and sometimes a snack is provided.

there is a fab book edinburgh for under fives you can pick up at Waterstones.

out of interest what have you been doing for two years?

BassMama · 06/02/2007 12:04

Thanks - ill check that book out!

For the last 2 years I have had pretty bad depression and have been working full time.

I am now getting over the depression and have been panic-attack free for 5 days now (and counting!)

My place of work has been sold so i am going to take some time out to be with my DS and work part time instead.

So I am very nervous about going to these sorts of classes as I really dont know how to interact with other mothers and i feel like they all judge me as i dont know what im doing.

The music one sounds good though as i am a musician so will hopefully have some intrest in it!

your local swimming or leisure centre should have loads of stuff like gymnippers, swimming, dance etc. also your healthvisiter should be able to give you advice about local playgroups etc. good luck with it!

ItsMeMellowma · 06/02/2007 12:08

I think lots of us feel the same about going to these classes, will be fine after the first time..I am sure

pesme · 06/02/2007 12:10

oh and lots of the librarys have free singalong sessions.

MrsApron · 06/02/2007 19:53

If you are feeling nervous I would start with a class rather than mums and toddlers. Classes everyone has to join in with are less daunting.

Hope you find something nice.

BassMama · 06/02/2007 20:02

Thank you

I have signed him up for jo jingles - starting next week!
I'm a bit nervous about it as i have never done anything like this before but i'll give it a shot!

Thanks for all the advice.
